Born in Bakou, Azerbaijan,   in 1980 and in 1990 immigrated to Israel. Finished 3rd in Israel Championship under 12 in 1992; finished 2nd in Israel Championship under 14 in 1994 and in the same year finished first in Israel in the under 14 teams' competition, playing for his club - Rehovot. In 1995 I moved with my family to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In Canada I won several tournaments, such as: Quebec Cadet (-16) championship in 1996, Quebec Juniors (-20) championship in 1997, Quebec under 18 championship in 1998, Canadian Juniors championship in 1998. I have also represented Canada in World Junior Chess Championships in India in 1998 and in Armenia in 2000. I became a FM in 1998 and got my first IM norm in Cappelle la Grande Open 2000 (FRA).
Besides chess, I like reading books, listening to pop and to classical music, and do sports. I was practicing Volleyball for 3 years, AA level, and Soccer for couple of years in my early childhood. I just finished college studies in Social Sciences program and will be studying Mathematics and Statistics in Concordia University next fall.
I believe Chess will, one day, be considered a sport, because it demands as much effort and physical condition as any other popular sport. Chess is a sport of mind. Chess is an art, it is a science, it is what I was doing since I am four, and it is something I will always enjoy.
